Fordham Graduate Student Workers Union Endorses Andre Easton for Congress in NY-15

September 2, 2026

BRONX, N.Y. — Today, the Fordham Graduate Student Workers union announced their endorsement of Andre Easton, who is running for Congress to represent New York's 15th Congressional District. Easton is on the ballot for the November 3 general election against incumbent Ritchie Torres.

“We’re proud to back a candidate rooted in working-class struggle and committed to labor, housing, and dignity for Bronx communities,” said the union.

Easton has taught English for 12 years in Bronx public schools. He is raising three boys in the Bronx with his wife, who is also a teacher. As a father of three and a high school educator, Easton knows firsthand how much working people in the Bronx give to this economy and how little they get back.

“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of Fordham’s graduate student workers union,” said Easton. “Thank you for your support. I’m proud to run on a platform of worker power: card check unionization, wage theft enforcement, full rights for immigrant workers, and a $30 minimum wage.

Easton's platform includes lowering rent by investing in fully funded public housing, a $30 minimum wage, and free and universal health care and child care. He has also pledged never to take money from AIPAC or corporate PACs and to fight for an end to all U.S. aid to Israel. Easton is a socialist running independent of the two-party system, on the ballot line of the Party for Socialism and Liberation.
