BRONX, N.Y. — Today, former Harlem City Council Member Kristin Richardson Jordan announced her endorsement of Andre Easton, who is running for Congress to represent New York's 15th Congressional District. Easton is on the ballot for the November 3 general election against incumbent Ritchie Torres.

"Unlike the current occupant of this seat, whose career has been defined by a calculated alignment with power rather than the people, Andre Easton will not trade his principles for political expediency," said Richardson Jordan. "The incumbent consistently chooses the path of least resistance to satisfy his establishment and AIPAC donors, sacrificing the best interests of Black people and all the people of the district for personal gain. Andre Easton, by contrast, is focused on the actual liberation of our neighborhoods."

Easton has taught English for 12 years in Bronx public schools. He is raising three boys in the Bronx with his wife, who is also a teacher. As a father of three and a high school educator, Easton knows firsthand how much working people in the Bronx give to this economy and how little they get back.

"It's a complete honor to receive the endorsement from Kristin, someone who has shown through her work a deep commitment to the project of Black and working-class liberation in this city," said Easton. "We are grateful for leaders like her who are dedicated to building the future we all deserve — a future for the people and the planet, not the billionaires."

Easton's platform includes lowering rent by investing in fully funded public housing, a $30 minimum wage, and free and universal health care and child care. He has also pledged never to take money from AIPAC or corporate PACs and to fight for an end to all U.S. aid to Israel. Easton is a socialist running independent of the two-party system, on the ballot line of the Party for Socialism and Liberation.
