Montefiore Nurses Fired As AI Implementation Increases

August 12, 2026

Bronx, NY — Following the firing of 12 nurses from Montefiore, healthcare workers are warning of widespread AI implementation in hospitals where it’s replacing workers and introducing new risk. Andre Easton, socialist candidate running for New York's 15th Congressional District, issued the following statement on August 12th:

“1 in 4 Bronx residents lives with at least one chronic illness. It's clear that the Bronx needs our nurses. I condemn Montefiore's push to replace healthcare workers with AI.

“I'm running for Congress in NY-15 because we need people in office who are unafraid to take on AI corporations, and the employers undermining working class power.

“Ritchie Torres was endorsed this year by Leading the Future, a pro-AI super PAC, which has spent over $1 million to help re-elect him. Torres is not up for the challenge of standing with Bronx nurses against risky and untested AI software in our hospitals.”
